New DDR? Where? Where? I MUST HAVE!

Assumption would have you know I have the newest DDR in my possession. I was worried about getting it today without having to drive all over town but when I came out of my orthodontist appointment this morning, Mau threw it in my lap in the car. Whoohoo! All I needed to do was go home and play it. Sky & I went through opening up a lot of stuff and I whipped out a quick AAA on “Brilliant 2 U”. Nice.

Keith & Mary Jo and us signed up for the Creepy Campout for a weekend in October. It’s based on a lottery style winning. We figured with both of us signed up, we’d have a better chance of one of us winning. We got picked for the 21st…yay! We are working on winning the “Best Decorated Campsite” award so we have already started our planning. They also have trick-or-treating for the kids (well, and Mau) with 100 sites to visit (meaning a shitload of candy), pumpkin carving contests and other Halloween oriented activities. Mau is planning on spending the whole weekend scaring the shit out of any kid stupid enough to come anywhere near his vicinity. It’s no grand secret that I love this holiday more than life itself so, of course, I am very excited we got picked for this. Halloween out in the woods, what could be better than that?

Mau had to reinstall his OS so we could play our weekly CS. I did much better this time, managing to stay on top (girl on top!) for an entire map…those silly boys.

Skylar is...the trophy man. 2nd & 4th Bowling Green, KY Posted by Picasa

My baby was kicking some butt

I am a loser. I was kid-free overnight and all I did was play some online poker by myself. Well, you have to understand that Mau was working, I had no car (Jetta is sitting in driveway on a slant with its 2 flat tires indefinitely…until we can afford to have it looked at), and I really have few friends. I know, wah. Edr0 made a rare appearance to hang out for a few and let me know who won that poker game we played in. Split 3 ways since it was 7am…jeez, that game needs some reconfiguring so it goes smoother and faster before I will be playing in it again.

Oh yeah, where was Skylar you ask? He went down to Bowling Green, KY for a tournament with Shi Fu April and another boy from his school and stayed overnight. She said he was really well behaved (huh? Skylar?) and performed well. How did he do? 2nd in fighting, which is his highest place yet and he was going against another Kung Fu kid from his school for 1st and he got 4th in forms…this tournament really called for power and the form he runs doesn’t look too powerful. He is very proud of getting 2 trophies and I am proud of him too. I will get a picture of him with them on Tuesday.

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!

Happy birthday FunkyB & Edr0…same birth day, same birth year, same last name? Spoooooooky!

We went down to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati on Sunday. We decided to go during the Bengals game thinking it would be less crowded. We were right! You could walk up and get food or beer with no lines. The highlight for Mau was the beer and some Mardi Gras beads, for me it was this delicious cheese struedel and for Sky it was a balloon sword and the famous “Chicken Dance”, which he did twice with much enthusiasm. I found it odd at first that he looked so lost with it since he goes to the German school and I just had a feeling he had done it before. Sure enough, when it was over, he said “Oh yeah, we have done that a lot in kindergarten and 1st grade.”. Now, Mau stated in his bog that he would NOT be doing the “Chicken Dance” but would you know that when they called for participants, he was the first one to jump up and perform it like a seasoned pro. Once the sea of orange and black flooded in, we realized the Bengals game was over so we made our way out of the growing crowd and left.

Yes, the rumors are true. I have played Counterstrike for the first time in 2 years. I felt very lost at first and someone decided to let me know I sucked the second round of me being there…c’mon now. I did end of easing back into it after 2 bad maps and got a few kills, including a grenade kill (I know, I was ecstatic over those even when I played on a regular basis). Hopefully Dem still plays so I can see her every so often? It’s much more fun to play with friends.

I really hate losing...

We got into the poker game at the Arabs’ house Saturday night. I really wish they started earlier so I wasn’t so tired while playing, raised the blinds in a timely manner and I really despise buy-backs (especially 2!) but, whatever the case, I couldn’t catch a hand to save my life and went down like a lead balloon…5th out of 9. It was good to play in the game over there though. It’s not often we are kid-free to do it. Sky happened to be at a last minute sleepover.

I think we have ditched our bowling league because it sucks. There’s no competition with only 4 teams, 2 of which I think dropped out too. We all said “fuck it” and bowled a couple games at a nicer center on Sunday. We’ll try to find a short season league coming up somewhere. Sky’s league has started as of last Saturday. He’s with all boys this year and seems to like them…he was on their cousins’ team in the summer so he knows them. I think he needs a heavier ball though so Santa might be carrying around big balls this year. Give me a break.

Jen & Val were sick so DDR Boot Camp (as Mau calls it in his blog…I know, still) was more of me just playing at Jen's house with a small audience. I cannot get used to the Xbox version…I am not uber as I cannot adapt to it easily :-( . It was fun though!

Sometimes boys are cool...

There’s a huge water bug in the kitchen. I think “Oh shit, Mau just left for work.”. I plead for Skylar to “come here quickly” just to see a reaction of if he would help or not. He pauses then says calmly “Should I get a napkin?”. I would never in my life get near that thing with anything so small as a napkin so I say “Yes, good idea!”. He grabs a napkin and bends down, pushing the now interested dog out of the way. I ask, with fear in my voice “What are you going to do with it?” and he replies “Throw it in the trash can.”. No way, that would mean it’s still in my kitchen, possibly still alive and ready to crawl back out. I say (like it’s the best team plan in the history of the world) “I’ll open the door and you toss it outside.”. He simply picks it up then I hear “Crap, I dropped it…come here little guy.” Then he throws it out the door. I, with a sigh of relief, say “Thank you so much Skylar. I would have been too scared.”. He looks at me over his shoulder and says “He scared me too but, *sigh*, I just did it.” And closes his door to finish his TV program I interrupted. Oh thank you for giving me a boy!

Bug bite free I am!

The best news? The bug bites are gone…they have been gone and non itchy for quite a few days but I am a slacker in posting this week.

FunkyB came down for Labor Day weekend to see the fireworks famous to Cincinnati. Mau had to work the first night he was here so we rented some movies, Closer and White Noise. Closer sucked ass and we ended up talking through most of it, complaining about how much it sucked then FunkyB finally jumps up and turns it off. I liked White Noise though. He also talked me into buying The Ring 2 because “it’s buying a piece of your childhood”. I have not watched it yet.

Jeni has rejected my attempts to get her to play DDR for years now but she finally gave in. Well, not to me, her sister bought it for the Xbox and she’s been playing it…and actually likes it! She gave me permission to do the “I told you so!”. I am excited because the new PS2 version comes out end of the month.

The fanatical neighbors have not attempted to convert us this week. I am using them now as a way for Sky to sell stuff for school since they are kidless (I never ask people with their own kids who have to sell their own shit). He is selling these Buddy cards now to help pay for the overnight zoo trip they do this year. I figured they might buy one because of the church and all and the teen nights they do. Mary Jo & I watched while he went over there. I turn to talk to her, turn back and he’s slipped inside their house. Mary Jo says “OMG, he’ll never be the same now.”. We quickly conspired a plan to rescue him but he came running out with money and their order. Whew! Not that not having a TV is a bad thing but I said they didn’t have one to Sue and she says “But how do they play DDR and Resident Evil then?”

Do I even HAVE ankles? Oh, there they are

The swelling went down on my one ankle (the one in the photo). I do have a plethora of bites on my other ankle too, as well as a few scattered over my calves, but that ankle is the worst. The stuff the pharmacist quickly grabbed for me from behind his really tall counter seems to be working but it makes my ankles look like I am part reptile with a bad case of scabies so I am opting out of capris or shorts for a few days and dealing with long pants. On the bright side, I am not being driven insane by the itching (you know that itching when you scratch it and your eyes are rolling back in your head, you are making “Ahhhh…” sounds and it feels better than an orgasm as long as you keep scratching until it bleeds?).
