He does lots of tricks!

We put Sky in dance classes. He’s doing a jazz class this year. I thought he might be intimidated being a beginner and the only boy in the class but he stepped in there and took control. He was the only one who could do the splits (comes from his extensive Kung Fu training) and he learned all the moves for the day in seconds. They are putting together a presentation for Xmas and he was the only one who looked like he knew what he was doing. My baby’s a natural dancer…well, duh! He had a lot of fun and looked very comfortable.

Skylar is finally on a real team in his bowling league. He was a one person team going against a 4 person team (although he actually won all 4 points, yeah he kicks ass) but the coordinator put him on a new team. He is holding this new team together too. He got a high handicap series last week, bowling all games over 100 with a 73 average. Today he pulled a 164 out of his ass. Unbelievable. He came off a spare with 4 strikes in a row (another personal best for him since his turkey). To show how bad his teammates are, Skylar’s insanely awesome score only gave them the win by 4 pins…that’s pretty bad. He’s getting more consistant lately, finally realizing after years of us yelling at him to “use the arrows” that maybe he should use the arrows. We bowled for fun Friday and he bowled a 136, which beat his daddy’s pathetic 118 *giggle*. I know the Pepsi tournament qualifier is coming up and this run of good scores will pull his average up and make it harder for him to qualify. We'll see though.

While on the topic of bowling, I have to mention my (drum roll please) 176 score from last week. It is my highest score ever, my first turkey at this bowling center and I’m pretty proud. Plus FunkyB told me when I bowled it, “You better blog this!”.

Freyja: 1996-2006 Posted by Picasa

Warning: This is sad if you own pets...

This is the time that I wish I did not own pets…when one dies. I have had plenty of rats die and that sucks enough but never a cat. I always dreaded this day but I thought they would also go in “order”. This was Freyja and she was only 10. It is unusual for a cat in renal failure to go so quickly (we just found out in July) but the vet seemed to think she might have had a tumor on her kidney as well.

All I know is it fucking sucks, it’s that simple. She stopped eating/drinking a few days ago and she just went downhill everyday since then. It was unbearable to watch her…she was too weak to walk and looked so uncomfortable. It was very stressful to make that decision and I never want to do it again. I have cried so much the past few days that I am amazed I can still produce tears. I cried non-stop in the vet’s office telling her repeatedly how much we love her and how sorry I am while she purred. God it was horrible. We decided to have her cremated separately and picked out a cute urn, a statue that looks like her. We stayed with her while it was performed…I know I’m crazy but I didn’t want her to be alone. It was pretty bad and I was unaware that her eyes would stay open. I was leaving the room, looking back hoping to see her ear twitch or something, wanting her to get up and start running around. I’m bawling again so I guess that’s it for now. I don’t even know what the hell I just wrote I’m so fucked up with grief.

I miss her terribly and want her back.

Um yeah...

My average killed us last week in league. We had to redeem ourselves. We both bowled great and won 2 games and the overall point.

We spent the weekend camping. It was too cold for the waterfall but we did a lot of hiking around. The only bothersome rain came the first night as we pretended to sleep (it was fucking cold and none of us slept well except Sky and the dog). Saturday turned out to be pretty nice weather and we got in a ride on the mountain bike trails. Mary Jo decided to go along but she was struggling. She said she had fun though. The only true casualty came when Mau went through the expert trail by himself after we were done and flipped over his handlebars. All the times we have gone through the trails and meet people on them, we are the only ones that look like we don’t belong on them and aren’t wearing helmets…I guess because we are stupid, especially when it’s wet and muddy which is every time. The kids always wear a helmet…we’re not that stupid. We were able to pack up in time to get one more ride through the trails before we left on Sunday. No one got hurt that time. Oh, no skunks this time either…just a raccoon that Kali chased up a tree.

Vicki was back in town for a few days so she stopped by Sunday night with her sister. Skylar was so happy to see them. It really was great and we had a lot of fun.

In the world of orthodontics I am now orange (it looks like a goldish-yellow though *shrugs*). The office added a new doctor and he had some different plans for me and my stubborn midline. He decided to have my top back molars bracketed finally because they are causing my midline to be wacky right now. He also told me to ditch the rubber bands (yay!) and the powerchains…I am back to plain old ligs. I actually like how the powerchains look more than single ones. I also got stainless steel wires for now. I don’t know what difference that makes but the assistant said they don’t use them often.
