Our star sighting and Jackass 2...
Sky had a Kung Fu tournament today up near
We took Sky to see Jackass 2 on opening night. I wasn’t sure how he’d react but he really likes Bam and he loved the movie. He was cracking up the whole time. I was very pleased with the film, as funny as the first one and only one scene that made me a little queasy...you'll know it when you see it. It was completely sold out (we bought tickets online and had some deals we used so it was cheap) and they had a cop checking IDs to get in. Afterwards, we heard some kids discussing how they weren’t sure they’d get in because they were checking IDs…Sky turns to them and says “I’m 9 and I got in!”. Sweet, we have succeeded in turning our kid into a smartass. For the record, we were not carded either but we’re old.

Happy Birthday FunkyB & Edr0!
Aaawww my boys are leaving their 20-somethings. Welcome to the 30's...it's all downhill from here :P
We are having connectivity issues with our internet service lately. Switching services has been discussed but it took a little preparation to change some email stuff. Today was the last straw so we made the calls but the cable people can't get here until next week so we'll have to deal until then. We are going to ditch the land line since no one calls that number anyways and we won't need it anymore without DSL. Cell phones should do the trick and it reduces the bills quite a bit each month...nothing wrong with that!
Sky has gotten a recommendation for these Saturday classes for gifted kids...not bragging here, he's got his weaknesses. It's a cool program though with fun class choices that the kids choose. For this term he has chosen a Medieval class as his first choice and a zoology class as his 2nd choice. He wants to be a zoologist so I was surprised that wasn't his first choice but you know kids. It comes with a price tag so we will see how it works out.

Who Dey...again!
Ok, I guess I said that last week. It’s a good thing though, 2-0. Next week I hope to say it again but it’s
Since I never post anymore I should say what’s been going on. Mau was sick and now I am sick. I didn’t remember how much it sucked…I haven’t gotten a cold since I lost all that weight…well it sucks bad. I can’t breathe and I feel like shit. It’s making everyday activities and working out harder…it’s getting done but not at the level it should be and I am super dizzy.
Tonight was the first night of our bowling league for this year. We need a couple more teams but it’s coming together. I was hoping, since I am barely able to stand, I would bowl like crap and start with a low average then bowl good the rest of the season with a nice handicap. It did not go according to plan. I bowled really well with an average of 136…dammit. That is my highest average ever and normally I would be happy with a 408 series but it will hurt us down the road and it will probably be my highest series the whole season LOL. Mau on the other hand was having issues with the way his new ball was drilled and he did not bowl his best games. He will take his ball back to the store this week and get it corrected.
We missed Oktoberfest this year. Since we were both sick, we decided not to mess with it. Sky wanted to see
We were taking care of Sue & Ryan’s animals for over a week. I am glad it’s over. The cats are great and easy to care for. Their dog is another story. In that time period that dog was attacked by Kali (Kali loves every other dog except that dog.), got loose in the park and attacked the other lesbian neighbor’s dogs, then twisted out of her collar while chasing a car and took off in the dark. We finally found her waaaaaay down the street. She doesn’t know her name so calling her is futile and she doesn’t react to commands. When she attacked the lesbian’s dog, we got a nice 15 minute lecture from her about how we aren’t taking good care of someone else’s dog. Since the dog is a fucking psycho that needs the help of Cesar Milan we just took it while apologizing profusely but we were both holding back going off on her. She had reason to be a bitch but not that big of a bitch. I have come to the conclusion that lesbians are just plain mean, at least the ones in our neighborhood are. We have decided to not agree to watch that dog ever again. I know Kali needs a little help in the doggie manners department but she’s a good dog overall and isn’t vicious toward other dogs. Kali’s only major faults are jumping up on people when she first sees them and pulling me when she wants to play with another dog she sees but I can get her under control pretty quickly with a few commands that she listens to. This other dog is certainly the spawn of Satan.

Who Dey!
1-0 so far for the regular season (4-0 for pre-season). I am optimistic for this year and very happy I have my football back on Sundays.

Here's what I think about binary...
01001001 00100000 01101010 01110101 01110011 01110100 00100000 01100100 01101111 01101110 00100111 01110100 00100000 01100111 01100101 01110100 00100000 01101001 01110100 00100001
Aargh! I guess my secret is out...I am not a true geek. Sigh. I am trying very hard to understand it and my brain actually hurts. Funny thing is, I think Sky actually gets it.

I know, I wait too long...
Nothing broke this time when FunkyB visited so he’s in the clear now. In fact he gave me a new monitor…that added 2 inches makes the difference. He also fixed Sky’s computer. Well, he fixed Max’s (Mary Jo’s deceased father) PC and Sky is using that for now. Sky’s processor fan (heatsink/fan on the chipset? Whatever it’s called.) was burned out so that explains his overheating. Sky is very excited to have a computer again and has discovered Red Alert so now he’s on a RTS kick.
The poor lawn needed rain but it’s getting to be a bummer now. The hot summer weather left and got replaced by what feels like fall. This has put an abrupt halt on our waterpark adventures dammit. I do like not running the a/c but I wanted to get in one more waterpark trip or go to the lake. We have booked our last camping trip of the season for the end of this month. We hope for nice weather and no rain so the mountain bike trails won’t claim any victims and we don’t freeze our asses off in our tents like the last camping trip of last year (god that was fucking cold).
Sky’s homework has gotten crazy this year. He’s been loaded down with stuff every night and 2 things now have stumped all adults here, like they weren’t explained properly since we all read it and said “Huh? I don’t get it.”. He had a research project on binary code as a number language. Cool yeah but written out? Uh ok. Fun time for 4th graders to be hand writing binary code. The real gripe about it was it was due in 2 parts. The first part being a chart on poster board then the 2nd part being the research and answering questions. Now why would you do the research AFTER you do the presentation? Interesting approach.
I bowled my high game of 163 and my first turkey (3 strikes in a row) in the same game. This wasn’t in league (hasn’t started yet) and wasn’t at our usual alley. I bowl great over there but the leagues are so expensive and we are fairly loyal to our usual place. The best thing was Sky bowled a turkey (his first too) in the 10th frame of our first game. He was so happy he was jumping up and down so we got the scores printed out for him. I would put him in the kids’ league down there but it conflicts with his school time and it’s further away so he’s sticking with his usual league that starts this Saturday.
In the world of orthodontics, I am pink now. Nothing too exciting this time. My midline is being stubborn so they told me to wear the elastic from canine to the very back molar now instead of the 2nd molar to see if it gets moving. All of the dramatic changes came in the beginning and until the final canine came down so it's a bit boring now but I'll take boring and straight teeth anyday compared to what they looked like before...it really is a miracle.
