Did she hit her head or is she that stupid?

Skylar got invited to a birthday party at a skating rink. Mau & I both yell “Hell ya! We’re so there!”. I lived on roller skates for many of my pre-teen years and did quite a bit of skating in my early 20’s too. It’s been a few years now, I no longer have my own skates and I now have a chronic balance disorder but I couldn’t pass it up.

I jumped on the skates on the carpet and thought “Oh crap, I don’t remember this being so hard.”. I felt like an idiot. Mau had already done a round and said “No no, you’ll get it after once around.”. He was right. It came back like riding a bike. I was whizzing around, doing spins and skating backwards. I was tearing up the floor like the Roller Queen I was in the past.

I decided to help poor little Trenee learn how to skate. I broke my personal skating rule: Never hold anyone’s hand that cannot skate. Disaster struck. I was keeping her afloat by pulling her back up repeatedly until her legs went all wonky and her skate went right in front of mine. I gracefully let my skate hit hers and spun around, going down flat on my back with my head hitting the floor full force. I was stunned. I laid there for a minute thinking “Did that just happen?” while my head vibrated like when you see those metal tongs...you know. I didn’t pass out and, after some little girl threw herself on top of my head because she thought it was funny, I got up and collected myself. It hurt terribly and my legs were shaky but I went back out so I wouldn’t psyche myself out next time with fear.

I have a huge lump on the back of my head and my whole body is sore today. I got whiplash so riding in the car was torture but I managed league bowling and DDR…it wasn’t easy but you know me, nothing stops me. I bowled like shit and we got crushed so maybe I should have stayed home.
