Sky had a Kung Fu tournament today up near Dayton. He got 2nd in forms and nearly won his fight but the deciding point went to his opponent…no biggie, he had fun. I stepped aside to let a family through a doorway I was blocking and thought to myself “Damn, that guy looked like Dave Chappelle from the side.”. I told Mau just as he walked back through the door and looked straight at me. I told Mau that I would bet $100 that was him. I know he lives near that area since he’s friends with Juan and we have heard the childhood/teen stories many times. Mau follows him outside and comes back with the news that it was in fact him and that he refused a picture (can’t blame Mau for trying since his regrets over the Jessica Simpson incident)…he refused politely though, chatted with Mau for a few and said to tell Juan & family “hey”. He was outside trying to shake some fans that were surrounding him inside. He was there because one of his kids was competing and from the medal around Dave’s neck, his kid won something. It was kind of cool having a little brush with a famous person, especially someone I actually like. I accidentally caught him on my videotape though…I don’t know how that happened :P Mary Jo said I was bad.
We took Sky to see Jackass 2 on opening night. I wasn’t sure how he’d react but he really likes Bam and he loved the movie. He was cracking up the whole time. I was very pleased with the film, as funny as the first one and only one scene that made me a little queasy...you'll know it when you see it. It was completely sold out (we bought tickets online and had some deals we used so it was cheap) and they had a cop checking IDs to get in. Afterwards, we heard some kids discussing how they weren’t sure they’d get in because they were checking IDs…Sky turns to them and says “I’m 9 and I got in!”. Sweet, we have succeeded in turning our kid into a smartass. For the record, we were not carded either but we’re old.
